We welcome you to the queer badminton tournament in Basel!

13:00 – 13:45: Lunch break
13:45 – 17.00: Playing

Swiss System

The tournament is played according to the Swiss system (Schoch). There is no preliminary classification of players. Instead players will be categorised after a few preliminary rounds where “everyone plays everyone”. Once the players have been categorised, they will play for medals. You can register as men’s, women’s or mixed doubles.

Shuttlecocks

Plastic and natural shuttlecocks will be provided. Before each match, the players can decide whether to play with plastic or natural feather shuttlecocks. The type of shuttlecock cannot be changed once the match has started. If no agreement is reached, plastic shuttlecocks will be used.

Catering and socializing

Water, fruit, and snacks will be provided (included in the participation fee). Upon arrival, you will receive your lunch bag, with a choice of vegetarian or tuna. There is a water dispenser, so please bring your own bottle. Additional drinks and food can be purchased at the sports field kiosk.

We will organize a dinner to round off the day in a convivial atmosphere. Anyone who is not tired yet is welcome to join the Gayties party at Club Cello.

Entry fee: CHF 40 per participating person

Our number of participants is limited to 80 players (40 teams). If more people register then a waiting list will be kept. Each player must register individually. The registration is only valid after we have received the entry fee.

Locations

Sport hall
The tournament will take place in the Pfaffenholz Sports Hall. The building by Herzog & de Meuron is located on the outskirts of Basel in France. Therefore, please take a passport or an ID with you.

Arrival by public transport: Tram line 3 (to Gare de Saint-Louis or Burgfelderhof) to the Burgfelderhof stop. The walk from there is about 200 meters.

Alternatively, take bus RT3 (to Gare de Saint-Louis) to the Burgfelderhof stop.
The walk from here is about 200 meters.

Car: Parking spaces are available in front of the hall with a day ticket CHF 10.

Dinner

Would you like to chat and discuss the tournament with your fellow players after the event? We have reserved enough seats for everyone who would like to join us for dinner at the Markthalle Basel. All attendees can help themselves to food and drinks from over 25 stands, offering a wide variety of choices. No payment is required from us; you pay directly at the stalls in the hall.
